Individuals

We are committed to acting for individuals in obtaining full access to justice. We will keep you fully informed about how your case is progressing so that you can make the decisions that are right for you.

We know that the costs of legal advice can sometimes be prohibitive. It is for this reason that we offer a range of ways to cover your costs, including: Legal Aid; “no-win, no-fee” agreements; fixed fees; legal expenses insurance; and, in exceptional circumstances, we may act for you on a “pro bono” (free of charge) basis.

Our experience in providing cost effective services and matching our clients’ resources, means that our clients obtain maximum value for money. From the outset we will be open and transparent about costs, and advise you the best cost options to suit your legal needs and financial resources.

We offer a fixed fee initial consultation by telephone, Skype or face to face.

Individually Funding Your Case

A key priority for individuals who privately fund their cases is certainty about costs. At Harrison Grant, we will carefully assess your requirements and provide you with an estimate of costs. We will regularly advise you of progress in your case, with frequent cost updates, and we will immediately let you know if we have to revise our estimate. We can offer a variety of payment options.

We can also offer a fixed fee arrangement so you can be sure that regardless of the outcome of your case, you will not pay more than the agreed fee.

Conditional Fee Agreements “No-Win, No-Fee”

We sometimes take on cases on a conditional fee basis (known as “no-win, no-fee”). This means that you will only have to pay our fees if you win your case; and we may also be able to recover our fees from your opponent. It also means that if you were to lose your case you would not have to pay our fees, although you might be liable for your opponent’s costs. A conditional fee arrangement is often combined with a special insurance called “after-the-event” cover, which protects you from having to pay your opponent’s costs if the case is not won.

Detailed advice on the best financial options will be given to you during your first consultation with us.

Legal Insurance

Some household insurance policies and also some motor insurance policies offer cover for legal costs. It is always a good idea to look through any insurance policies you hold to see if they provide cover for the legal advice you require. If you are unclear about any of the terms or provisions in your policy, our solicitors would be happy to review this with you during an initial consultation.
